Group Therapy Outreach
Group Play Therapy offers children the opportunity to receive therapeutic support to address a range of social, emotional and behavioural issues. In group therapy, children receive a 'therapeutic dose' from both the therapist and their peers as they learn to navigate the group dynamics, and model and learn from one another.
At Playroom Therapy, we are committed to facilitating tailored and effective and Group Play Therapy sessions. As such, our Groups have a maximum of 6 children - with one therapist to every two children. Each group is thoughtfully designed to include children with a range of presenting needs and goals. This 'mix' of group members gives children the opportunity to experience therapeutic benefits from supported 'peer modelling' - that is, the opportunity to spend time with, and around, others who may have varying and unique strengths and difficulties. This allows children to gain from time with peers and with play therapists.
Playroom Therapy offers Group Play Therapy as an 'outreach' option, meaning the therapists can come to the kinder, school or organisation to provide weekly therapist onsite. With additional training, such as TORA, our therapists can partner with kinders, schools and organisations to co-facilitate groups - ie. one therapist leading the group along with one teacher or education support staff.
